Now Accepting Presenter Proposals for 2020!

The Brain Injury Association of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University are excited to announce our call for proposals for our 2020 Heading Forward Conference!
The conference, a program with the VCU TBI Model Systems will be held Thursday, April 30 and Friday, May 1, 2020 at the Westin, Richmond, VA. We are seeking breakout presenters to add to our redesigned premier event! 

Breakout presentations will provide an opportunity for in-depth discussion of brain injury rehabilitation topics. Presentations will be 1 hour 15 minutes, including time for audience questions. The conference audience will include rehabilitation practitioners, researchers, and community providers. Presentations must focus on brain injury rehabilitation. Preference will be given to presentations that include or are based on empirical research.

This year we are seeking proposals in the following three topic areas:
  • Neurobehavioral & Neuropsychiatric Issues - Presentations related to the management of behavior, affect (including lability, anxiety, depression, PTSD), agitation/aggression, psychosis, pain, and sleep dysfunction.
  • Cognitive Assessment & Intervention - Presentations related to the evaluation and treatment of cognitive dysfunction after brain injury, such as SLP, neuropsychological assessment, and cognitive rehabilitation strategies.
  • Emerging Research & Technologies - Presentations related to novel empirically-based research and assistive technologies in brain injury rehabilitation.
