Brain Injury Association of Virginia Selected as 2019 Winner for Two National Awards

The Brain Injury Association of Virginia has been selected as the 2019 Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) winner for excellence in collaboration and in governance/management. The collaboration award recognizes excellence in working together with others to achieve meaningful work to advance an organization’s mission; the governance/management award recognizes excellence in association administration and development.

The Brain Injury Association of Virginia, which has served as a voice for Virginia’s brain injury community for nearly 37 years, submitted the award applications based on initiatives to strengthen the connection between behavioral health and brain injury services and on efforts to strategically align mission with technology.

“Receiving recognition for our efforts to raise awareness about the link between brain injury and behavioral health, including opioid use, is a tremendous tribute to the progress we have made together with our partners at the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, and Community Services Boards. Acknowledgement from our national association for excellence in association administration is especially rewarding considering the example they set for brain injury associations across the country. We are thrilled to see our focus on integrating technology with mission pay off in small and large ways – our ability to effectively serve Virginia’s brain injury community depends on it.”

The awards were presented at BIAA’s annual affiliate leadership conference last month in Clearwater, Florida.
