Brain Injury Awareness Advocacy Day 2024
Brain injury advocates asked the Virginia General Assembly to:
Invest in Services
Funding is needed to expand and strengthen existing services by hiring additional case managers, clinical professional staff, and other supports to meet the growing demands for brain injury services across the state. We are asking for:
$2.5 million to strengthen and expand the community-based safety net service system.
Invest in People (Workforce)
State-contracted brain injury providers report high attrition and difficulty filling open positions because of non-competitive salaries and benefits. Delivery of programs and services suffer, and client needs can go unmet. We must encourage the Virginia House of Delegates and the Senate of Virginia to keep the following in their budgets:
- $775,000 increase to address ongoing significant workforce retention issues
