Celebrating Brain Injury Research, Recovery and Resilience

As a state with a large military presence, we are disproportionately impacted by the effects of TBI, with more than 1 million Virginians estimated to have sustained a TBI at some point in their life. For over 4 decades, VCU’s groundbreaking research has influenced how physicians around the world treat TBI.

On April 30, at 5:00 p.m. at the Westin Hotel in Richmond, the Brain Injury Association of Virginia, VCU School of Medicine and VCU Health will be celebrating a recent $50 million grant award to VCU, funded by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs

This grant extends a study on the long-term impacts of mild TBI (or concussions) on service members and veterans through a national research consortium of universities, hospitals and clinics led by VCU.
